Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to information when you visit cactusleague.com — what we collect, why, who else is involved, and what you can decide.

It covers this website only. The Cactus League mobile app is a separate product with its own, different policy.

The Short Version

  • You do not need an account, and we do not ask you to create one.
  • We use Google Analytics to understand which pages and games people look at. You control whether that runs.
  • We only get your email address if you type it into our newsletter signup or one of our forms.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • You can change your cookie choices at any time from the “Cookie settings” link in the footer.

1. Who we are

This site is operated by the Cactus League Association (“we”, “us”), 1 Cardinals Drive, Glendale, AZ 85305, United States. We are the party responsible for the information described here.

2. What we collect

Information you give us.

  • Newsletter signup. Your email address, and anything else the signup form asks for. This goes to Constant Contact, the service we use to send our newsletter.
  • Forms. Membership, sponsorship, golf, job-fair and support forms on this site are provided by JotForm. What you enter goes to JotForm and then to us.
  • Email. If you write to us, we have your message.

Information collected automatically.

  • Analytics. With your consent, Google Analytics 4 (loaded through Google Tag Manager) records things like the pages you view, which links and teams you click, roughly where you are (derived from your IP address, not stored by us as a precise location), your device and browser type, and which site referred you.
  • Server logs. Our web host records ordinary request logs, including IP addresses, as part of running and securing the site. This happens whatever you choose about cookies, because it is how a web server works.
  • Sponsor measurement. We count when a sponsor unit actually becomes visible on screen and when it is clicked, so we can tell partners how their placements performed. These are counts of events, not profiles of people.

We do not knowingly collect payment card details on this site, precise geolocation, or special categories of personal data such as health, biometric or political information.

3. Cookies and your choices

When you first arrive you are shown a cookie banner with three options: accept all, reject all, or choose individually between Analytics and Advertising & partners. Cookies strictly needed to make the site work and keep it secure are always on and are not part of that choice.

Your decision is stored in your own browser (in local storage, under cl_consent) so you are not asked again on every page. It is stored on your device, not on our servers. Clearing your browser storage clears it.

Where the default sits depends on where you are. If you are in the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, analytics and advertising storage are off until you turn them on. Elsewhere, including the United States, they start on and the banner lets you turn them off — the opt-out approach US state privacy laws are built around. We use Google Consent Mode v2, so your choice is passed to Google's tags rather than merely hidden from you.

You can change your mind at any time using Cookie settings in the footer of every page. We also honour browser-level opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control (GPC) where the law requires it.

4. Why we use it

  • To run the site and keep it available and secure.
  • To understand which pages, teams and games people care about, so we can improve what we publish.
  • To send the newsletter, if you asked for it.
  • To answer what you send us through a form or by email.
  • To report to sponsors and partners how their placements performed, in aggregate.

5. Legal bases (for visitors in the EU, EEA and UK)

  • Consent — analytics and advertising cookies, and the newsletter. You can withdraw it at any time.
  • Legitimate interests — keeping the site running, secure, and free of abuse; and understanding aggregate use where that does not require cookies.
  • Contract — where you have asked us for something specific, such as a membership enquiry.

6. Who else is involved

We use a small number of established service providers. They act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes:

  • Google (Analytics 4, Tag Manager) — measurement.
  • Constant Contact — newsletter delivery.
  • JotForm — forms.
  • Our web host — serving the site.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, safety, or the integrity of the site.

7. How long we keep it

  • Analytics data — retained in Google Analytics according to that product's retention setting, then deleted.
  • Newsletter subscribers — until you unsubscribe. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
  • Form submissions and emails — for as long as we need them to deal with the matter, and then for as long as we are required to keep records.
  • Server logs — for a short period, as part of routine operations and security.

8. We do not sell your information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined under California law. Sponsor reporting is aggregate performance information — how many people saw or clicked a placement — not a list of who they were.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to limit how we use it, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and not to be treated differently for exercising any of those rights. If you are in the EU, the EEA or the UK, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

To exercise any of these, contact us using the details in section 12. We may need to verify who you are before we act — which, since most visitors never tell us who they are, sometimes means we simply cannot connect any information to you.

10. Children

This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Other sites we link to

We link out to team sites, ballparks, ticket sellers, sponsors and local businesses. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for them. When we link to a partner we add tracking parameters to the web address (for example utm_source=cactusleague.com) so the partner can see that the visit came from us. Those parameters identify this website as the source — they do not identify you.
