Trevor Hoffman

University of Arizona alumnus Trevor Hoffman converted from shortstop to pitcher in the minor leagues. Throwing a nearly unhittable changeup, Hoffman went on to record 601 saves, second all-time. In 1998, he helped lead the San Diego Padres to the National League pennant – the second in franchise history. Hoffman spent 16 springs in the Cactus League with San Diego and Milwaukee. After his retirement as a player, Hoffman has remained a presence in the Cactus League as a Padres senior advisor for baseball operations. Hoffman was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018.
