Are you a senior student at an Arizona highschool? Then you’re very likely future-focused: thinking about career possibilities, wondering how to fund your education, excited for what’s next.
The good news is that when it comes to paying for college, trade school or a career-training program, completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step toward a bright future. The FAFSA opens the door to grants, work study funds, student loans and scholarships. And there’s no income cut-off to qualify.
Even better news? The Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) and the Cactus League are teaming up to support Arizona senior students on their college journey. When Arizona 12-graders complete the 2026-27 FAFSA, they’re eligible for free – yes, free! – tickets to a spring training game.
Complete the FAFSA View FlyerVisit the FAFSA website and fill out the entire application for the 2026-27 year. In order to qualify for free Cactus League Spring Training tickets, a fully completed 2026-27 FAFSA form must be on file with the U.S. Department of Education at the time of entry. Students who do not have a confirmed 2026-27 FAFSA on file or have an incomplete form on file will not be eligible.

To close the FAFSA completion gap, the Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) initiated a coordinated statewide effort that combines dedicated resources, strategic partnerships and targeted outreach. Its collaboration with Cactus League Spring Training is one of the most effective components of this work. By connecting financial aid completion with a uniquely Arizona experience, ABOR is creating meaningful incentives for students to take the next step toward their future.
Currently, the state’s FAFSA completion rate has reached 24 percent, up from 18 percent in April 2024 and more than halfway to the 40 percent goal. Arizona now ranks second in the nation for year-over-year improvement, with more than 30,250 students having completed the FAFSA and an average of 1,800 seniors finishing the form each week.
Last year’s partnership between ABOR and Cactus League delivered 4,532 free spring training tickets to 1,155 Arizona high school seniors, representing 10 of the state’s 15 counties. Notably, 54% of participating students were first-time spring training attendees, highlighting the campaign’s success in expanding access and introducing new fans to the Cactus League experience.
