Reggie Jackson enrolled at Arizona State University on a football scholarship in 1964 but soon switched his allegiance to baseball and was drafted by the Kansas City Athletics in 1967. After the club moved to Oakland, Jackson became a key part of the Athletics’ three-year run of World Series titles from 1972-74. In 1973, he won the American League Most Valuable Player Award. Jackson left Oakland in 1975 but returned to the Cactus League for five seasons with the California Angels (1982-86) and retired with Oakland in 1987. Dubbed “Mr. October” for his World Series heroics, Jackson was a 14-time All Star and hit 563 home runs.
