Spring Training Season begins with the Annual Charity Game between the Padres and the Mariners. All proceeds go to Charity. The Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres will be going head to head for the Annual Charity Game on Wednesday, February 21, 2009, at 1:05 pm. Through partnership with the Peoria Diamond Club, the Charity Game has contributed to over $100,000 in donations to local charities.

The Peoria Sports Complex was the first Major League Baseball Spring Training and player development facility in the country that is shared by two teams. The San Diego Padres and the Seattle Mariners utilize the facility on a year round basis. Spring Training attracts an average annual attendance of over 220,000 fans, which is the highest attendance in the Cactus League.
A recent third party review of the Peoria Sports Complex‚ operations rated it as the most highly used complex in Arizona and Florida of like facilities on a year-round basis. It was also determined that the Sports Complex is one of the most successful Spring Training venues in terms of constant and increasing annual participation numbers.
Peoria Sports Complex has been honored by Westmarc as “Best of the West” in Attractions, Destinations and Tourism category, by Phoenix New Times as “Best Place to Watch a Spring Training Game” and by AZCentral.com as “Best Sports Venue – West Valley
